Holly Wood (Tuesday, September 30, 2003)

The flight yesterday was great, left on time and got here 10 minutes early at 6:10 PM! Luther got stuck in traffic and picked me up at 7, so while I was waiting I talked to a nice girl with red/blonde hair who was reading the Edie Sedgwick book.

After Luther picked me up we went to eat, and then went over to Brad Jacobson's house. Brad lives with his boyfriend Alf and their roommate David. Charming Amy Cissell was there too. Brad gave me the new Swivek CD "Holly Wood" which is their best yet!

About 11 PM we went to the Motherlode (quiet), and soon after Rage. Saw Michael Schmidt and friends there. He was very nice and friendly as usual... he was wearing a Voluptuous Horror Of Karen Black t-shirt and looked very cute - he shaved off his moustache.

Coincidentally, I also saw Patrick Briggs (from the now defunct Psychotica) walking down the street...

Today I had a burger at LA Buns and walked around West Hollywood a lot. Brad just walked in and things are up in the air, we'll see what happens next.

California Tomorrow (Sunday, September 28, 2003)

Still packing for California tomorrow. I'll be in LA for two weeks. Hope to keep this Blogger going while I'm there...

The Most Common Disaster (Monday, September 22, 2003)

Yup, I did it. Man does it hurt. I formatted my hard drive without backing up my web sites.

I thought I had backed up everything, but I did not bother to back up the Root Drive's Library, which in OS X is usually not necessary. But silly me, I wanted to use SSI on my local copies of the web sites, so I moved everything into Library/WebServer/Documents/, made links to them in Safari, and promptly forgot they were no longer in my User folder. Ouchie.

Everything on my sites was pretty current, except for some kiler stuff that was destined for the Blondie site. Damn. Oh well. I'll have to recreate those files... if I can remember them all.

I have since figured out how to use symbolic links, so I can just link to the folders in my User folder. But it was an expensive lesson, indeed.

Eye Stomach Brain (Wednesday, September 17, 2003)

I finally went in to get new glasses a few days ago. I ended up buying a pair pretty much like my last ones, and another pair that's more a 70's hustler look.

I think my work is actually giving me ulcers. Circumstances beyond my control make certain projects difficult for me sometimes, and it's affecting me physically. I just want these projects to be the best they can be, and they aren't, and there's not much I can do about it, so my frustration has to come out somewhere. I'm going to get checked soon. It's pretty disconcerting that a mostly mental process can affect the physical body so much.

I am on vacation until about October 15th, so hopefully I can wind down and relax. I'm thinking I may have to just stop logging on for that to happen...
